Practically all artistic manifestations are permanently transferred to some medium or other. Literature is printed onto the page, Cinema on rolls of celluloid, Music on a compact disc, and Painting reproduced by photography. Not Theatre. Theatre is transferred to something much more fragile, the audience member’s memory. From time to time this memory needs refreshing. Drawers and cupboards where past characters sleep need opening, letting the characters out onto the stage and into the limelight once again.

And we see how the old characters come out of their boxes with the same old energy in tact. And the viewer glides through the snippets, the fragments of his memory.

However, HISTORIETES (“Little Stories”) isn’t just a shot at nostalgia. It’s also a meeting point for theatrical experiences accumulated over twenty years.; from the magic yarn-spinning of ANTAVIANA to the bitter spectacle of FLOR DE NIT. It’s also a party, a celebration with the audience. An exhibition, also. (Without exhibitionism there is no theatre).

The actors and actresses which form the company as it stood at this moment, had achieved through many years working together, a technical proficiency in their craft. They are authentic musical theatre performers. They switch effortlessly from the sung to the spoken. They dance, they sing, they act. They come out this side of a dramatic scene from MAR I CEL to dive cheerfully into a Saint John’s eve shindig, or an intimate passage created by Jaume Sisa. On stage they divide and multiply at breakneck speed. They have good times, and others not so good, and they offer them to us and make them ours. They forge their way through and into the hearts of those present. We honestly feel that that’s what they achieve.... and we say so in total absence of any kind of objectivity, the absence of impartiality which characterises any mum or dad talking about their little ones. Now it’s up to you...
